      Out of stock

Corgi Aviation AA36404: Eurofighter Typhoon F2 of 11 Squadron RAF Coningsby in 2007. Superb looking model with optional undercarriage positions and stand. Low limited edition of only 1,501 pieces.

Length 8.75 inches Wingspan 6 inches

The Typhoon is an agile, single seat, multi-role aircraft optimised for high altitude supersonic air combat, but also capable of operating at much lower levels in the air-to-ground roles. A major plus of the Typhoon over current types is its ability to undertake 'swing role' missions ? which, means it can be equipped to undertake both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions in a single sortie, switching modes in flight. With nine underwing weapon-mounting points, the aircraft can be equipped with 2 x Advanced Short-Range Air-to-Air Missiles, 4 x Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles whilst simultaneously carrying air-to-surface ordnance which could include Laser Guided Bombs, Brimstone anti-armour weapons, Storm Shadow cruise missiles and Air Launched Anti-Radiation Missiles. No.11 Squadron disbanded in October 2005 and was reformed at RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire on 29th March 2007 as the RAF's second frontline Typhoon squadron.

Designed as part of a co-operative effort by Germany, Italy and the UK to produce an air superiority fighter, the Eurofighter was first flown on March 27th, 1994. The Eurofighter is a single-seat, twin-engine, agile combat aircraft used in air-to-air, air-to-ground and tactical reconnaissance roles. It is intentionally aerodynamically unstable, which gives it its high levels of agility-but this means the Typhoon is controlled by a computerized "fly by wire" system instead of by its pilot. The Eurofighter's first rate performance is matched by excellent all round vision and by sophisticated attack, identification and defense systems and stealth technology.
